 First album you ever bought?
« Thread Started on Dec 17, 2006, 11:08am »

:o :o :o

Hi all... just thought this might be a good topic to break the ice!

What's the first album you ever bought?

For me it was in late 1972 when I was 12 almost 13. It was the Carpenters' "A Song For You" - the album that is red and has a big heart on the cover - it looks like a Valentine's card. I bought it because I loved the song "Bless The Beasts And Children". Though, I came to quickly love the entire album. My favorite tracks are now the dark and mournful "Road Ode", the soulful and moving "A Song For You" and the delightful hit written by Paul Williams "I Won't Last A Day Without You".

Now the first album I purchased with my own money (away from allowance from parents) was when I was 16 (1976). The album was Paul McCartney and Wings' "Wings At The Speed Of Sound". When I bought it "Silly Love Love Songs" had already been a major #1 hit and "let 'Em In" was just hitting the airwaves. I really enjoyed both songs - especially "Let 'Em In" and decided to buy the album. Unfortunately the album wasn't as good as I thought it would be - though I did like the ballad "Warm and Beautiful".

8-) 8-) 8-)

Wow.. I have some 45's from when I was a kid I recently found at my parents house.. had some CCR - Proud Mary, Supertramp - Logical song... Rush - New world man.. Been so long, but I remember my 1st CD.. Honeymoon Suite - Singles..

My mom still has some old 78's.... 8 tracks.. Wonder what my kids will have in 10 years time.. IPOD will be obsolete perhaps.. ;)

I remember playing "Crime of the Century" and "Breakfast in America" albums all the time.. then years later "Famous last words..." wore out those records...

hi all...I'm going to take a guess at what my 1st record I bought was, I think it was John Denver's Greatest Hits in 1973. My folks bought me 78's when I was little and my first Carps. LP Close to You.
I still have all my old records, but no record player anymore.

well, Tabguy or whoever else is out there these days, I'll be happy to converse with 'ya. although I've been preoccupied with this and that myself.

I remember my first tape cassette.. Even in the quietest moments album... Listened to it over and over, here I am years later playing the songs myself on the piano / guitar.. the day I thought I'd be able to play these songs..

This message forum has been quiet, but I check things out from time to time.. Good to have some new people on here!

;D ;D ;D

My first Supertramp album was "Crime Of The Century"... I bought it in 1977... I heard it at a party and just loved every song on the album. What a great album. My favorite track is "Bloody Well Right". A few years later "Breakfast In America" came out and that one hit like a storm. I went out and bought it immediately. By 1982 I managed to purchase every Supertramp album released to that date.

Needless to say I still enjoy them immensely. The songs I've been playing quite a bit lately are "Give A Little Bit" and "Crime Of The Century".
